Willow Wood joins UK wide 2.6 Challenge

Willow Wood is part of a UK wide initiative to plug the fundraising gap caused by the cancellation of thousands of events such as the London Marathon. Last year alone, the marathon raised £66.4 million for charities with the Hospice benefitting from the support of a number of runners.

The organisers of the London Marathon teamed up with the organisers of other mass participation events to create the 2.6 Challenge. It’s really simple, just think of an activity you enjoy and incorporate the numbers 2 and 6. Head of income generation Anthony Lord explains:

“Starting on 26 April, the date the Marathon should have taken place, we’re asking people to support us by joining with the 2.6 Challenge. What could you do 26 times? Or in 2.6 minutes? 26 cartwheels in a row, 2.6 minutes of skipping? Or, while you’re taking your daily exercise, could you run or walk for 2.6 miles or even 26 – you don’t have to do it all in one go. I’m challenging myself to juggle for 2.6 minutes. I’m not very good yet, but I’m hoping I will be soon!

“There are so many different ways our community can support Willow Wood with this Challenge, whatever your age or fitness level. Your children could cycle round the garden 26 times, bake 26 cupcakes or even try to launch 26 paper planes so they’re all in the air at the same time!
