As our decorations go up around the Hospice, a wonderful festive picture is brought to mind – a tree covered in lights, gifts, a roast dinner with all the trimmings, Christmas crackers and paper hats, loved ones enjoying each other’s company recounting endless ‘remember when’ stories, oh yes… and just one more mince pie! What a heart-warming scene.

Our thoughts then turn to just how important this Christmas will be for patients in our care here at the Hospice, their loved ones too. It is our vision for every patient to be surrounded by their family and friends, a home from home where they can spend precious time, creating special forever memories together.

However, the ongoing cost of living crisis puts this heart-warming vision in jeopardy, and with no offer of sustained funding on the horizon from the Government, a dark shadow is cast over the future of funds available to hospices, making the financial support of our local community all the more essential.
